Position: Automotive Planner and Buyer
Type: Direct Hire
Starting Salary Range: $59,000 – $80,000
Current Schedule: 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM (1-hour lunch) Note: Schedule may be adjusted after training to meet production scheduling needs
Overview:
A well-established plastic injection molding company is seeking a dedicated and experienced Automotive Planner and Buyer to join their team. This role is critical to supporting efficient production by managing material procurement and coordinating production schedules for automotive industry clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Materials Procurement:
Source and purchase raw materials (including plastic resins and related components) in a timely and cost-effective manner
Maintain and build relationships with suppliers; negotiate favorable pricing and terms
Monitor inventory and adjust purchasing as needed to prevent shortages or overstock
2. Production Planning:
Work with production teams to develop and maintain schedules that align with customer demands
Ensure planning processes adhere to automotive quality standards and regulatory requirements
3. Supplier Management:
Evaluate supplier performance using KPIs
Resolve supplier issues quickly to minimize delays
4. Cost Control:
Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities across procurement and production
Stay informed on market trends and pricing to support smart purchasing decisions
5. Quality Assurance:
Partner with the quality team to ensure purchased materials meet specifications
Support quality improvement initiatives
6. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of purchases, inventory levels, and supplier metrics
Generate regular reports on supply chain and production performanc
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Relevant industry experience in a similar role will also be considered
Experience in procurement and supply chain management, ideally in automotive or injection molding
Strong knowledge of material planning, procurement strategies, and supplier management
Familiarity with automotive standards such as IATF 16949
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor) and Microsoft Office 365
Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environmen
