Position: Quoting Engineer Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 Shift: 1st Shift Location: Rochester Hills, MI (On-site)
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Quoting Engineer to join our team. This is a critical role that serves as the technical link between sales and potential new customers—primarily during the quoting phase. We provide electronic manufacturing services specializing in Printed Circuit Board Assembly, cable, and harness assembly.
1. Duties and Responsibilities
Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for labor, materials, tooling, and documentation for cable/wire harness and PCBA.
Thoroughly review and interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new cable/wire harness assemblies, PCBAs, and box builds.
Assess technical feasibility of new projects and proactively identify missing, incomplete, or ambiguous documentation.
Collaborate with sales and engineering teams, providing technical guidance and clearly articulating challenges and viable solutions.
Interpret customer quality documentation and specifications and contribute to the preparation of PPAP and FAI forms.
Identify opportunities for process improvement within quoting and new product workflows, and maintain detailed records of quotes and project specifications.
2. Knowledge/Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial) or related technical field required.
Minimum of 3+ years in a technical role within a contract manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on cable/wire harness assembly; PCBA experience is a plus.
Essential experience in quoting and estimating wire harnesses; experience with PCBA quoting preferred.
Knowledge of IPC 610 and IPC 620 standards a plus.
Familiarity with quality standards such as IPC620, ISO9001, and ISO13485 is a plus.
Experience with quality documentation for industries including Aerospace & Defense, Medical, and Automotive.
Strong background in Project Management and SWOT analysis.
Knowledge of Epicor ERP is a plus.
3. Skills
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and BOMs.
Skilled in identifying crimp tooling and connector mates.
Ability to read and analyze Gerber files is a plus.
Control panel knowledge is a plus.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
Excellent communication and team-building skills; able to collaborate effectively across departments.
Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Quick learner with a passion for manufacturing and customer service.
Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
Professional-level verbal and written communication skills.
