Job Title: Die Setter – Technical/Plant Labor

Location: North Vernon, IN – On-site
Shift: 1st Shift (flexibility required; weekends possible)
Schedule: Standard, 40 hours/week + OT as needed
Contract Duration: 09/01/2025 – 03/31/2026 (6-month contract-to-hire)
Pay Rate: $25–$29/hour, based on experience and interview performance

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Die Setter with hands-on experience in powder metal compacting and mechanical/hydraulic press operation. This role requires installation, setup, and troubleshooting of tooling, operation of presses, inspection of parts, and maintenance of production records. Safety, quality, and adherence to procedures are top priorities.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure all press safety mechanisms are in place and functioning

  • Assemble, set up, and troubleshoot tooling (die cavities, punches, core rods)

  • Operate Cincinnati 550-ton press and adjust settings for optimal part density and dimensions

  • Inspect compacted parts for compliance with specifications

  • Troubleshoot issues in compaction or delube oven processes; stop production if necessary

  • Maintain production and tooling records

  • Assist in sorting/rework of discrepant preforms/forgings

  • Perform daily 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)

  • Participate in maintenance and continuous improvement activities

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Powder metal experience mandatory (5+ years preferred)

  • Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment

  • Knowledge of die setup, material flow, and robot operation

  • Familiarity with ferrous/non-ferrous powder metallurgy

  • Blueprint reading and GD&T skills

  • Experience with quality inspection tools (micrometers, hardness testers, CMM)

  • Shift flexibility, including weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing experience in metal forging

  • Analytical skills for process adjustments and troubleshooting
