Control Engineer
Direct Hire | 1st Shift
We are seeking an experienced Control Engineer to support industrial operations through PLC/DCS maintenance, automation support, and continuous improvement of electrical and control systems. This role is hands-on and includes field work, close collaboration with maintenance teams, and support of plant instrumentation and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain, troubleshoot, and program PLC systems, including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and SLC 500
Support and optimize DCS systems (DeltaV)
Perform field work to diagnose and resolve control, electrical, and instrumentation issues
Support maintenance and instrumentation teams with troubleshooting and system improvements
Manage and support Burner Management Systems (BMS)
Maintain and utilize data historians (e.g., AVEVA PI)
Support environmental compliance systems including CEMS/COMS
Develop and implement reliability and automation improvement strategies
Lead or support controls-related projects, upgrades, and documentation
Ensure control systems meet safety, operational, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications / Experience Needed
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
4+ years of industrial controls or automation engineering experience
(chemical, coke plant, power generation, or heavy industrial environment preferred)
Hands-on PLC experience
Experience performing field-based troubleshooting and support
Experience supporting maintenance teams
Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, sensors, and control devices
Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and DeltaV DCS
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an operating plant environment
