About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Dispatcher to join our Dearborn team. This role is essential to managing pickups and deliveries, ensuring timely service and excellent customer communication. The ideal candidate has prior dispatching experience within the transportation industry and is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take calls from drivers and clients, responding professionally and efficiently.

  • Receive and respond to email alerts regarding shipments and deliveries.

  • Enter alerts and updates into dispatch software accurately.

  • Assign jobs to drivers and manage routing and mapping.

  • Track shipments and advise drivers and customers on status and ETA.

  • Update and maintain customer web portals with accurate delivery information.

  • Dispatch and monitor driver movements throughout the day.

  • Prepare daily work schedules and run schedules for drivers.

  • Communicate with drivers via tablets, cell phones, or in person as needed.

  • Manage all aspects of pickups and deliveries from inception to completion.

  • Resolve issues affecting scheduled pickups or deliveries, including vehicle mechanical problems, traffic delays, weather challenges, or customer changes.

  • Record incoming/outgoing calls and document actions taken.

  • Maintain accurate records of vehicles, freight bills, ETAs, and any changes in shipments or directions.

  • Use records to assist in resolving any mishaps or customer/shipper issues.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of dispatching experience.

  • Dispatching experience specifically within the transportation industry.

  • Proficient in routing, mapping, and dispatch software.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
