CNC Programmer

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join a growing, dynamic machine shop. This is not an entry-level position — candidates must be able to step in and contribute immediately.

Location: Kimball, MI
Pay: $28+/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: 8–10 hour shifts, overtime, weekend availability
Type: Contract-to-hire

Position Summary
The CNC Programmer develops and maintains CNC programs to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality machining operations. This role also supports production through machine setups, routine and preventive maintenance, and ensures all processes meet operational and quality standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software

  • Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences for each job

  • Verify programs against engineering drawings and customer specifications

  • Support first article inspections and troubleshoot production issues

  • Document program changes and maintain version control

  • Assist in evaluating new machinery, tooling, or software for operational improvements

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance including checking way lube, coolant concentration, and grease cartridge levels

  • Maintain a clean and safe shop environment, including sweeping/mopping floors, removing metal shavings, debris, oil, coolant, and other spills, and inspecting coolant pumps for chip buildup

  • Ensure maintenance tools, spare parts, and supplies are organized and available

  • Maintain shop facilities, including emptying trash bins, maintaining scrap areas, and cleaning bathrooms

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operations, efficiency, and growth

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of CNC programming experience

  • Experience programming and operating 3-axis and/or 5-axis CNC machines, preferably cutting mold components or detailed parts

  • VISI programming experience is a plus

  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize CNC programs quickly and accurately

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Ability to work independently and support a team-oriented shop environment
