Job Title: Operator B – SMT Electronics
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shifts Available:
1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Role Summary
We are seeking detail-oriented Operator B candidates to join our SMT electronics assembly team. This role focuses on operating and tending Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) machines, soldering small electronic components, and performing product testing to ensure quality standards. Candidates must have excellent manual dexterity and the ability to work efficiently while replenishing and programming SMT machines.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate automated SMT equipment including Screen Printers, Glue Dispensing Machines, Pick and Place Machines, and Reflow Ovens.
Track machine performance and communicate issues promptly to management.
Interpret blueprints and work instructions to ensure product quality.
Access company procedures and navigate shop floor controls.
Utilize manual, semi-automatic, or automatic solder paste stencil machines.
Follow practices to maintain ISO compliance.
Replace damaged, missing, or misplaced components using hand soldering operations.
Mount components such as transformers, resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets on panels or PCBs.
Perform preventive maintenance, diagnose, and troubleshoot equipment issues.
Ensure tolerances for frequency and temperatures meet customer specifications.
Analyze test data and identify trends or patterns for quality improvement.
Tune specific components or edge caps on PCBs during testing operations.
Report non-conformance or deviations from quality standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications / Requirements
Required:
Familiarity with SMT electronic components and SMT assembly process.
Ability to clean boards and perform basic soldering/rework of SMT components.
Ability to perform visual inspections of SMT assemblies.
Knowledge of IPC standards and ability to meet customer specifications.
Proficiency with hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and cutters.
Housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze test data from equipment and resolve failures.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
3–5 years of experience as an SMT Operator.
IPC certification or previously certified.
Physical / Occupational Exposures
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers; continuous or repetitive reaching.
Frequent lifting: 1–10 lbs; occasional lifting: 10–25 lbs; rare lifting: up to 50 lbs.
Twisting at the waist as needed.
