Civil Drafter 

Job Summary

We are seeking a Civil Drafter to join our engineering team supporting utility and infrastructure projects throughout the Midwest. This role involves preparing plan and profile drawings for road and utility projects, collaborating with engineers and project managers, and ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and prepare detailed project drawings during planning and design phases 

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and Technicians to deliver drawings on schedule 

  • Prepare permit drawing sets including plans, elevations, sections, details, and notes 

  • Understand and apply AutoCAD requirements for different clients and project needs 

  • Perform QA/QC on drawing files to ensure accuracy and compliance 

  • Coordinate project deadlines with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in AutoCAD drafting or equivalent work experience 

  • 1–5 years of AutoCAD experience 

  • Civil 3D experience preferred 

  • MDOT and MicroStation experience is a plus 

  • Familiarity with industry practices, regulations, and technical standards 

  • Proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Office, and Outlook 

  • Strong technical, written, and oral communication skills 

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with opportunities for fieldwork as needed 

  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building programs, and related materials
