Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Production / Prototype / Tooling Scheduler to coordinate and maintain production schedules for CNC production, prototype, and tooling work. This position will balance customer priorities, due dates, available capacity, machine capabilities, staffing, and overall production requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience scheduling work in a CNC or machining environment and be comfortable working across Production, Programming, Tooling, Materials, Quality, Sales, and other departments to keep jobs moving and meet customer deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production schedules for CNC production, prototype, and tooling work, balancing customer priorities, due dates, available capacity, machine capabilities, staffing, and operational requirements. 
  • Coordinate the flow and priority of work across the shop, ensuring jobs are assigned to the appropriate resources. 
  • Ensure programming, tooling, materials, inspection, outside processing, and other prerequisites are aligned with production requirements. 
  • Monitor job progress and schedule performance daily, identifying potential delays and capacity conflicts. 
  • Proactively adjust schedules and priorities to keep critical work moving and support on-time delivery. 
  • Work closely with Production, Programming, Tooling, Materials, Quality, Sales, and other departments to communicate priorities and resolve scheduling constraints. 
  • Coordinate scheduling requirements for prototype, tooling, and production jobs. 
  • Maintain accurate scheduling and job-status information within ERP and production systems. 
  • Provide clear visibility into current workload, available capacity, priorities, expected completion dates, and jobs at risk. 
  • Communicate schedule changes and potential delivery issues to the appropriate departments. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, scheduling efficiency, and production throughput. 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in production scheduling, manufacturing scheduling, or production planning. 
  • Experience working in a CNC machining, tooling, or precision manufacturing environment preferred. 
  • Understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, programming, inspection, and material requirements. 
  • Experience working with an ERP or manufacturing production system. 
  • Ability to understand production capacity, machine availability, staffing, and job priorities. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs and changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills. 
  • Ability to identify potential scheduling problems and take action before they impact delivery. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, preferred.

The ideal candidate understands how a machine shop operates and can effectively coordinate the entire production process. They should be comfortable reviewing workload, machine capabilities, programming status, tooling, materials, inspection requirements, and due dates to determine what needs to run, when it needs to run, and what resources are required.
