Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Corporate Buyer to lead the sourcing, negotiation, and management of supplier relationships. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services required to support manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will have extensive purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, strong supplier management and negotiation skills, and experience working with ERP systems. This role will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, Finance, and other departments to support material requirements, supplier performance, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers that meet quality, cost, delivery, and technical requirements.
- Lead price, terms, contract, and supplier negotiations to achieve the best overall value for the organization.
- Manage supplier relationships and monitor performance related to quality, delivery, cost, and service.
- Utilize Epicor ERP to manage purchasing and procurement activities, maintain accurate purchasing records, and support inventory management.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and other departments to ensure purchased materials and services meet technical and manufacturing requirements.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and customer-specific requirements, including ITAR, AS9100, and ISO standards.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by securing materials, suppliers, and purchasing resources in alignment with project timelines.
- Analyze supplier pricing and cost structures to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
- Partner with Finance and other departments on cost-saving initiatives, payment terms, and purchasing strategies.
- Manage purchase agreements, contracts, and supplier documentation.
- Research and resolve issues involving incorrect shipments, shortages, quality concerns, delivery delays, and other supplier-related problems.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP system.
- Support supplier development and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, supplier performance, inventory levels, and overall procurement efficiency.
- Perform additional purchasing and supply-chain responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Direct experience using Epicor ERP for purchasing, procurement, and inventory management is required.
- Experience with strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing purchasing, materials, inventory, and supplier requirements.
- Experience working with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Finance teams.
- Strong understanding of ITAR and AS9100 requirements.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and customer-specific purchasing requirements.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple suppliers, projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Demonstrated integrity and a process-oriented approach to purchasing and supplier management.
Preferred Experience
- Experience purchasing within Automotive, Aerospace, or Prototype manufacturing.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
- Experience with machined components, tooling, raw materials, fabricated components, and outside processing.
- Experience with supplier development and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
