Pay: $25.00–$30.00/hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mold Designer to join our team and support the design and development of production injection molds. This position is responsible for creating accurate mold designs from customer part data while working closely with engineering, tooling, and manufacturing teams to ensure molds are built for quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.
The ideal candidate has experience designing injection molds, interpreting customer specifications, and developing tooling for production environments.
Responsibilities
- Design production injection molds using 3D CAD software.
- Create complete mold assemblies, detailed drawings, and documentation for manufacturing.
- Develop mold concepts based on customer part data and engineering requirements.
- Design mold components including slides, lifters, inserts, cooling systems, and ejector systems.
- Review part geometry for manufacturability and recommend design improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering, mold makers, and manufacturing teams throughout the design and build process.
- Revise existing mold designs to support engineering changes and production improvements.
- Maintain accurate design documentation, BOMs, and revision records.
- Ensure mold designs meet customer specifications, quality standards, and production requirements.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or technical training in Mechanical Design, Tool Design, or a related field preferred.
- Experience designing production injection molds.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (VISI experience is a plus).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
- Strong understanding of injection mold construction and mold components.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling design.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing molds for automotive, aerospace, or industrial applications.
- Knowledge of mold actions including slides, lifters, and hand-load inserts.
- Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials.
- Familiarity with mold cooling, venting, and ejection system design.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing multiple projects.
