Position Overview
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to join our school team. The Kindergarten Teacher will create a positive, engaging, and structured classroom environment where young students can develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children and creating hands-on learning experiences while incorporating technology, creativity, and interactive instruction into the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging kindergarten lessons and learning activities aligned with curriculum standards.
- Create a safe, welcoming, and structured classroom environment.
- Provide instruction in early reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
- Incorporate hands-on activities, educational technology, and age-appropriate learning tools.
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to support individual learning needs.
- Establish classroom routines, expectations, and positive behavior-management strategies.
- Provide individualized support to students who need additional academic or behavioral assistance.
- Encourage students to develop problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills.
- Communicate regularly with parents and families regarding student progress, classroom activities, and areas of concern.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, support staff, and special education personnel.
- Participate in parent conferences, staff meetings, professional development, and school activities.
- Maintain accurate student records, assessments, attendance, and other required documentation.
- Support school-wide programs, events, and activities.
- Follow school policies, curriculum requirements, and applicable educational regulations.
- Maintain a classroom environment that promotes respect, inclusion, curiosity, and a love of learning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred.
- Valid Michigan teaching certification appropriate for kindergarten/elementary education, or willingness to obtain the required certification.
- Previous classroom or student-teaching experience with young children preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and kindergarten instructional practices.
- Ability to create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans.
- Comfortable incorporating technology into classroom instruction.
- Ability to assess student learning and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and school staff.
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage a busy classroom environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative school team.
- Commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching Kindergarten or early elementary grades
- Experience in a charter school or innovative educational environment
- Experience incorporating educational technology into instruction
- Experience supporting students with different learning styles and needs
- Familiarity with hands-on, project-based, or STEM-focused learning
- Experience with classroom assessment and student data
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are a plus
