Start Time: 6:00 AM
Pay: $38.00–$45.00/hour

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Metal Model Maker to build, modify, and finish metal models, prototypes, fixtures, and tooling used in manufacturing and engineering applications.

The ideal candidate will have a background in model making, tool and die, machining, fabrication, or precision manufacturing, with the ability to work from engineering drawings and specifications and produce accurate components to required dimensions.

Responsibilities

  • Build and modify metal models, prototypes, tooling, fixtures, and related components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD data, and specifications.
  • Perform precision machining, fitting, grinding, filing, and finishing operations.
  • Measure and inspect components to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Operate manual and/or CNC machining equipment as required.
  • Perform layout and fabrication work based on engineering requirements.
  • Fit, assemble, modify, and finish metal components.
  • Identify dimensional or fit-up issues and make necessary adjustments.
  • Work closely with engineering, machining, and manufacturing teams.
  • Maintain accurate work and inspection documentation.
  • Perform repairs, modifications, and rework on existing models and tooling.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and an organized work area.
  • Follow all safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Metal Model Maker, Model Maker, Tool & Die Maker, Machinist, Tooling Technician, or similar role.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience working with metal components and precision tooling.
  • Ability to perform precision measuring and inspection.
  • Experience with manual machining, CNC machining, grinding, or fabrication.
  • Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, and metalworking techniques.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to dimensional accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently from drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM systems is a plus.
  • Tool & die, prototype, automotive, or advanced manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Journeyman or equivalent
