CNC Set-Up Technician – 3rd Shift

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 3rd Shift, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Pay: Based on Experience
Shift Premium: Additional 15%

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Set-Up Technician to support machining operations on 3rd shift. This position will be responsible for machine setups, tooling and workholding, troubleshooting, process improvements, preventive maintenance, and supporting automated manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate has hands-on CNC machining experience and can troubleshoot machining and tooling issues while helping improve production efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform CNC machine setups, including chucks, collets, tool bars, and workholding. 
• Read and interpret blueprints and machining specifications. 
• Troubleshoot tooling, process, and machine issues to minimize downtime. 
• Replace, repair, and maintain CNC tooling and workholding equipment. 
• Identify and implement improvements to CNC machining processes and machine performance. 
• Support tooling and workholding development with Engineering. 
• Assist with automation initiatives, including robot teach/reteach activities. 
• Create, revise, and maintain operator work instructions and manufacturing documentation. 
• Train operators on machining processes, preventive maintenance, and equipment procedures. 
• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective actions on CNC equipment. 
• Support equipment improvement and continuous improvement projects. 
• Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and participate in waste reduction initiatives. 
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. 
• Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and electrical safe work practices. 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. 
• CNC machining and setup experience required. 
• CNC programming experience preferred. 
• Experience with CNC tooling, workholding, and machine troubleshooting. 
• Experience identifying and resolving machining and process issues. 
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints. 
• Experience with process improvement and CNC optimization. 
• Strong computer and technical skills. 
• Manufacturing, technical, or trade school education preferred. 
• Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, or similar quality systems preferred.
