Position Overview
We are seeking a Production Configurator & Programmer to oversee and expand the site's existing production configurator used to create manufacturing Bills of Materials (BOMs). This position will play a key role in expanding the configurator across the entire product line while also leading CNC programming activities throughout the shop.
The Production Configurator & Programmer will work closely with Production Control, Engineering, Manufacturing Support, and shop-floor teams to develop automated BOMs, job routings, production work orders, CNC programs, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Translate engineering and sales specifications, rules, and logic into the production configurator program
  • Convert configurable designs into automated BOMs, process routings, assembly instructions, and CNC programs
  • Write, maintain, and optimize cutting programs for the site's Laser-Plasma combo sheet steel cutter
  • Write, maintain, and optimize programs for CNC lathes, mills, and other specialized manufacturing equipment
  • Analyze engineering drawings to create tool paths using CAD/CAM software and select appropriate cutting tools
  • Run simulations and physical test runs to verify program accuracy and optimize cycle times
  • Identify and resolve issues between product configuration logic and physical machine production
  • Work with the Production Control team to create discrete job routings and production work orders
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Support team on Cobot welder programming and operations
  • Optimize machine programs and production processes to reduce waste and downtime
  • Ensure configuration software is maintained and reflects current manufacturing capabilities
  • Support the expansion and continuous improvement of the production configurator across the entire product line
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, or related technical field, or technical certification in CNC programming or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on automation or CNC programming experience
  • Experience with G-Code or equivalent CNC programming
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, such as Creo or Mastercam
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience in make-to-order (MTO) and engineered-to-order (ETO) manufacturing environments
  • Experience with welding robot/Cobot programming and operation
  • Experience programming and optimizing plasma and laser cutters
  • Experience with ERP/MRP system integration, such as Oracle or SAP
  • Experience with machine sequencing and production process optimization

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional who can bridge the gap between engineering, software configuration, CNC programming, and actual production. They should be comfortable working both with manufacturing software and directly with equipment on the shop floor.
