Quality Engineer

  • Serve as the company lead to monitor customer Web Sites and E-mail communications.
  • Resolve Customer & Vendor problems via 8D’s and NOR’s.
  • Prepare and send initial responses to customers for Quality related issues.
  • Communicate all customer issues to internal teams.
  • Manage all customer requirements including sorting of suspect material at customer plants or in transit, and identify clean point shipments.
  • Develop root causes of issues, document corrective actions and work with customers to close out issues.
  • Support development of PFMEA’s and Control Plans and update documents as related to customer related Quality Concerns.
  • Support APQP & PPAP Related Functions including Appearance Approval Reports (AAR), Run at Rate and development of Product Characteristic Matrix (PCM).
  • Order and Maintain color plaques and perform Spectrophotometer functions.
  • Perform Melt Flow testing and other Quality testing as required.
  • Assist in maintaining Quality files, forms, and documentation.
  • Participate in processes for Part Discrepancy Reports (PDR), Tool Discrepancy Reports (TDR) and Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Knowledge of gage calibration, GR&R, SPC and Cpk/Ppk/Capability.
  • Track and report Quality KPI data.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred, but not absolutely necessary.
  • Must have strong Quality experience in a Plastic Injection Molding facility.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing quality personnel in a factory setting
  • Detailed knowledge of ISO9000 quality system requirements.
  • Working knowledge of AIAG standards, including APQP and PPAP.
  • Expert skills in using and training quality tools (i.e. Fishbone Diagrams, 5-Whys, 8D, Gage R&R, FMEA, SPC, etc.).
  • Certification by the American Society for Quality as Six Sigma Black Belt or Certified Quality Engineer a plus
