Mechanical Designer / Drafter
Location: Batavia, IL
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 40 hours/week
Hours: Between 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM Central Time
Work Arrangement: On-site

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer / Drafter to support design and drafting projects within a highly technical engineering environment. This role will work onsite as part of a Design/Drafting Group and will support accelerator physics and superconducting technology projects.

The Mechanical Designer will prepare mechanical designs, advanced 3D models, and 2D drawings using NX1980 and Teamcenter. This position requires experience applying ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards and working closely with engineering staff to research design solutions, coordinate design development, and support project schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare mechanical designs and drawings using NX1980 
  • Manage 3D models and 2D drawings in Teamcenter 
  • Apply ASME Y14.5-M-1994 or higher GD&T standards 
  • Create design tolerance and stack-up calculations 
  • Develop layout designs, detailed drawings, advanced 3D models, and 2D drawings 
  • Work directly with engineering teams to research and analyze design solutions 
  • Coordinate design development with project engineers and technical staff 
  • Specify and select design components and materials 
  • Follow internal design/drafting procedures and quality requirements 
  • Complete work according to project schedules and deadlines 
  • Support review, checking, and approval processes with engineering staff 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Designer 
  • Proficiency with NX1980 CAD 
  • Experience using Teamcenter 
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards 
  • Experience creating mechanical designs, layouts, detail drawings, and 3D models 
  • Ability to complete quality work on deadline-driven projects 
  • Ability to work under limited supervision 
  • Comfortable collaborating directly with engineering staff 
  • Must be able to demonstrate NX1980 CAD proficiency during a Zoom interview 

Physical / Work Requirements:

  • Must be able to work onsite in Batavia, IL 
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week 
  • Schedule is Monday through Friday, between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM Central Time 
  • Ability to sit for up to 8 hours per day 
  • Ability to perform repetitive computer work
