As the Senior Buyer, you will be reporting to the Purchasing Manager and will be responsible for sourcing production material and components. The four key areas of focus for the Senior Buyer will involve supplier management, sourcing of new/existing programs, commodity management and cost savings initiatives. In addition, you’ll be required to occasionally support the Purchasing Manager with Plant related projects.
The Senior Buyer will be working closely with existing suppliers to foster a long term relationship and identifying new business opportunities. You will be supporting the plant staff with quality and delivery issues along with supporting the Purchasing Manager on developing and implementing commodity strategies. The key commodities for this role will be interior trim and decorative components, resins and raw material. On a day to day basis, the Senior Buyer will be working closely with Program Management, Quality and Production Control to support Supply Chain issues and initiatives. You will also manage the RFQ process, working closely with the Program Management team.
The ideal candidate must have purchasing experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment and experience working with internal business units to support production. You must have experience working in a high-performance and metrics focused organization. The Senior Buyer will be expected to travel between three locations in Ontario and one-site in Michigan. Experience in purchasing plastics and resins would be an asset towards this role. This role will require you to be a creative purchasing professional that has experience in both operational and strategic purchasing.

- 7-10 years Sourcing & Procurement experience in automotive purchasing
- Experience working in a multi-site operation, including travel to locations on a regular basis
- Strong business acumen, including knowledge and experience with legal agreements
- Supervisory experience with a small team would be an asset
- Knowledge & experience with ERP systems – setting up a Supplier Portal would be an asset
