Assembly Manager

Position Overview: The Assembly Manager is responsible for overseeing daily work assignments within the Assembly Department while actively participating in meeting production requirements. This role ensures that all assembly areas are equipped to prepare the final product. Regular communication with Assembly Department employees and the Plant Manager is essential. The Assembly Manager also provides feedback on staff performance, production updates, and weekly reports to the Plant Manager. This position requires strong leadership, mentoring abilities, and excellent time and people management skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with new hire training and ongoing mentoring, prioritizing safety within the Assembly Department.
  • Ensure all steps of the work process are included and clearly understood by team members.
  • Gather necessary items, parts, and tools required for efficient and effective job performance for yourself and your team.
  • Align materials and assemble parts to build more complex units.
  • Update the Plant Manager on equipment needs, including necessary maintenance.
  • Maintain staffing levels to meet business needs.
  • Assign work orders based on shipping requirements and staff capabilities.
  • Identify training needs and opportunities for all employees within the Assembly Department.
  • Improve employee retention through clear and proactive communication.
  • Ensure quality standards are met by all Assembly Associates.
  • Maintain legible handwriting and the ability to write basic instructions.
  • Effectively manage time pressures, long hours, rapidly changing priorities, and stress.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Must have at least 2 years experience as a manager in Assembly, Molds and Plastics
  • Understanding of quality control principles.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to train with patience and provide mentorship.
  • Excellent time and people management skills.
  • A communicative leader who leads by example.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, equaling 95% of the assigned work shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work environment is not climate-controlled and can be hot or cold depending on weather conditions.
