Job Summary
To support the school’s vision, mission, core values and goals for student academic, career, and
life success by providing prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who
exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency. These services are
designed to help children meet their educational goals.
Type: Charter School
Salary: Starting between $60K+
Can be entry level (recent graduate)

Duties and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Collaborate with staff in planning educational intervention, curriculum, and teaching
strategies to best meet the needs of students.
• Schedules interventions using a variety of service delivery models, including classroom
intervention, consultation/collaboration, and pull-out as appropriate to meet student needs in
the least restrictive environment.
• Meets with related school personnel to coordinate specific objectives for individualized
educational programs.
• Applies a systematic workload model to facilitate the organization of the speech-language
program within the school.
• Maintains records of the speech-language program and prepares periodic reports as required.
• Perform systematic direct observations of pupils.
• Conducts speech, language, and hearing screenings.
• Serves on student intervention team/Individualized Education Program (IEP) team as
appropriate.
• Works with other professionals to carry out the screening process.
• Uses appropriate screening instruments.
• Obtains pertinent case history.
• Obtains data from other professionals and parents.
• Integrates data from a variety of assessment techniques and sources.
• Determines the effects of the student’s impairment regarding accessing the general
curriculum.
• Presents and explains data to the IEP Team.
• Prepares evaluation summary.
• Uses systematic procedures for review of student progress.
• Changes activities based on student progress.
• Collaborates in program planning and evaluation services for decision-making purposes.
• Provides a written report of all evaluations completed and files them with the
Multidisciplinary team report.
• Attends RTI/SSIT meetings per request.
• Attends all IEP/504 initial/re-evaluation meetings.
• Adheres to established rules, regulations, laws, and appropriate ethical standards.
• Other professional duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Qualifications
• Approved Michigan speech-language pathologist who is certified by the Michigan
Department of Education or who is fully licensed.
• Skills in the administration and interpretation of tests.
• Skills in Speech therapy psychological report writing.
• The capacity to interview, consult, and counsel with school personnel, parents, pupils, and
others.
• The capacity to communicate findings to professionals, parents, pupils, and others in a
meaningful manner.
• Be committed/flexible to meeting the needs of diverse students, parents, and staff.
• Have excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• Adhere to a high level of professionalism and ethical standards.
